The Rout & Seal Process

An MWC routs a crack along a highway.

Step One

Create sealant reservoir by routing crack with mechanical crack router.

Debris are swept from existing pavement surface.

Step Two

Blow or sweep debris created by crack routing from placement surface.

MWC workers blow routed cracks with compressed air.

Step Three

Blow routed crack with compressed air. Heat lance may be used to heat sidewalls of cracks to remove any moisture.

Cracks are sealed with rubberized sealant material.

Step Four

Seal crack with rubberized sealant material. Crack may be overbanded to improve bonding at the surface.

State Crack Filling Process

Cracks on a highway are blown with compressed air.

Step one

Blow crack with compressed air.

Cracks are filled with emulsified asphalt by MWC workers.

Step Two

Fill crack with CRS2P emulsified asphalt. Overband to improve bonding at the surface.

The Process of Asphalt Crack Repair

Step One

Mill existing crack to a minimum depth of 2” (partial depth) or up to full depth of existing pavement.

Cracks are blown with compressed air.

Step Two

Blow with compressed air.

A crack with tack coat applied.

Step Three

Apply tack coat.

New Hot Mix Asphalt material is prepped by MWC workers.

Step Four

Install new Hot Mix Asphalt material and flush surrounding pavement surface. Full depth repair shall be installed in multiple lifts.

Perimeters of repair area are routed and sealed.

Step Five

Rout and seal perimeters of repair area.

Sawing & Sealing

Prime or subcontract Midwest Coatings for any PCC saw and sealing need. We have worked with Departments of Transportation, counties, cities, commercial businesses, airports, and more to complete PCC projects.

Our PCC Sawing & Sealing Process

Existing joints in PPC are sawed with a self-propelled rider.

Step One

Saw existing joints with self-propelled rider saws to remove existing joint sealant material.

A PPC joint is power washed to remove any slurry.

Step Two

Power wash joint to remove any slurry created by sawing.

A PPC joint is sandblasted and blown with compressed air.

Step Three

Sandblast joint and blow with compressed air.

A joint is sealed with rubberized joint sealant.

Step Four

Seal joint with rubberized joint sealant. Material shall be left slightly lower than pavement surface.
